The Fitch Law Firm LLC does more than advocate for victims of negligence; it also invests in students’ education through its Truck Accident Awareness Scholarship. Each year, the firm awards $2,500 to a deserving essay winner who can highlight the prevalence of truck accidents, along with offering preventative solutions. This year’s winner? Undergraduate student Grace Schuler.
Through her 1,300-word essay, Schuler emphasized the importance of educational campaigns to combat distracted driving. Her passion for truck accident advocacy stems from a nearly fatal accident her brother experienced in 2017. Inspired by his resilience in the aftermath of a brain injury, Schuler hopes that through education, motorists can avoid the behaviors that lead to serious accidents, making the road a safe place for everyone.
Schuler is currently studying hospitality management at Drexel University, where she intends to graduate this year. She is guided by the adage: “To whom much is given, much is expected.”
The Requirements of the Truck Accident Awareness Scholarship
To qualify for consideration, Schuler (among other applicants) was asked to write a 1,000-word to 1,500-word essay highlighting two things: truck accident safety awareness and solutions for preventing collisions from endangering lives in Ohio. The scholarships offered by The Fitch Law Firm LLC require applicants to:
- Have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher
- Be enrolled/accepted at an accredited college or university
- Be a U.S. citizen or otherwise approved to attend school in the United States
- Submit their unofficial transcripts, along with the essay in a PDF format
After the prescribed deadline, judging will take one to three months. The essays are reviewed by The Fitch Law Firm LLC’s scholarship selection committee, who then notify the winners upon selection. While non-winners are not notified, they are encouraged to submit new essays the following year for reconsideration, given they meet the qualifications.
